As part of the Days of Challenges 2015 festival, French mountain running star Julien Chaurier will have a special one-day participation with a symbolic marathon in the Vitosha Mountains.
The French runner is a special guest of the 11th edition of the Challenge Days. In addition to an evening presentation about his sports and racing career, he will participate in an organized run on Vitosha, together with Kiril Nikolov - Diesel, on the first day of the festival. After the run, a discussion with the athletes will be held for the fans in Hall 3 of the National Palace of Culture as part of the daily programme.
Julien is a born champion - his unwavering dedication to the sport, consistency of achievement and passion to win have deservedly earned him a string of accolades from prestigious world-class races: two-time winner of the Grand Raid de la Reunion, La Diagonale des fous (France), Hardrock Hundred Mile Endurance Run (USA), Ultra Trail du Mont Fuji (Japan), Madeira Island Ultra Trail (Portugal), Ronda del Cims (Andorra) and more.
Schorier talks about the difficulties of the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB) - one of the most spectacular ultramarathons in Europe (166km - France, Italy and Switzerland - 10,000m of vertical drop). In 2013, he finished sixth in the race (video).
Julien was unable to complete the course this August due to injury, but is preparing for 2016.
In recent months, the athlete participated in competitions in Australia - The north face1100, Utat Ultratrailatlastoubkal (UTAT) in Morocco, Ecotrail Funchal – Madeira, where he took first places in the men's category with outstanding results.
At the UTAT in Morocco in October 2015, he placed second despite the injury from the UTMB marathon. In Morocco, the athlete encountered some breathing difficulties but coped quickly and managed to finish safely and even enjoyed the views along the route.
