"In early August 2015, I left home with the idea of visiting Iceland. I didn't get on a plane or use a ferry. I took public transport to the Ring Road and from there, at the last stop of bus 54, my journey began. I hitchhiked across Europe and upon arriving in England, caught a flight to my dream destination, which was the island. I spent two months there alone, seeking different perspectives, exploring different emotions, setting small and big goals and trying to accomplish them. I moved on foot and hitchhiked, slept in a tent almost every night, experienced chambers of unforgettable moments - it was worth it, Iceland lived up to my expectations."

So begins the story of Simon, who travelled 9700 km on a budget of 7 euros per day and spent 57 nights in a total of 49 locations in a “hotel under the stars”.

Traveling for him, like many other things in life, is an amazing thing, but the most inspiring part are the two main goals he sets with it:

  1. Live with as little as possible without being deprived of the necessary, but leaving the unnecessary behind. I have been preaching low budget travel for a long time and a high standard country like Iceland was a good opportunity to prove my theory.
  2. Share: Regardless of the medium, whether through photography, video, writing, illustration or narrative - I've collected many stories and takeaways that I think are worth sharing.
