Ultramarathons are on the crest of the wave. This documentary by Indian filmmaker Abhishek Kumawat showcases the inspiring stories of La Ultra - The High participants. With distances ranging from 55, 111, 222, 333 and up to an astonishing 555 km, amidst harsh desert terrain and at high altitude, this is without doubt one of the toughest and craziest marathons in the world.
Much more than a race, "La Ultra - The High" is a testament to human capabilities and endurance. The film closely follows the ordeal of several ultra-runners overcoming the extreme 5359 m altitude and the less than hospitable weather conditions of Ladakh, India. In 2019, the long 555 cm distance was managed by several people, with a best time of 132 hours.

The icing on the cake : none cash or prize money, with runners driven solely by their passion. The documentary showcases their camaraderie, determination and perseverance through snow, physical breakdowns and mental challenges. The race creates temporary employment for more than 250 people and generates income for the local community of more than Shs2.5 million.
Moving Mountains Within will be on the big screen on December 3 at Lumiere Cinema
