How to cross Com-Emine by bike in under three days:
The new national record of Peter Matov

590 km, from the border with Serbia to Cape Emine along the ridge of the Balkan Mountains, in 67 hours and 18 minutes or less than three days - this is the achievement of Peter Matov. In August 2024, he became the holder of a new record for the fastest cycling along the iconic Kom-Emine route. Peter improved by almost 3 hours the record of Ilko Iliev from 2018. This is not his first encounter with the iconic route. In 2021 he was second in a team with Minko Banchev in the attractive Red Bull Bike The Balkan race. The course has 20,500m of total positive and 21,500m of total negative descent.

Peter Matov is an IT specialist by profession , and mountain biking is still just a hobby for him. How did cycling become a way of life for Peter and how did he manage to improve the national Com-Emine record?

We give him the floor on the opening day of the festival, December 3, to give us a first-person account and premiere the film of his achievement.
