BEFSA Teen Avalanche Science – Knowledge that makes the winter mountains safer for young people
How to recognize avalanche danger? How to assess conditions and make the right decisions?
These are some of the questions that BEFSA Teen Avalanche Science addresses in its project, aimed entirely at young winter sports enthusiasts. The initiative by the Bulgarian Association of Freestyle and Extreme Skiing offers completely free practical training for children and youths aged 10 to 18, teaching them not only to recognize risks, but also to navigate the winter mountains more responsibly.
So far, over 900 participants have completed the trainings in schools and winter resorts!
For two years now, BEFSA Teen Avalanche Safety has had the support of 'Stenata' stores as part of the '1% for Bulgarian Nature' initiative. Because caring for nature also involves knowing its forces, respecting the mountains, and having the ability to make informed decisions when we are out in it.
As part of the short film presentation, the project team will take the stage to talk more about the initiative, present the training schedule for the upcoming winter season, and share the results of an international project under the "Erasmus+" program.
Investing in knowledge and skills today is a step toward a more responsible and safe future in the mountains.
