The French legend in the world of rock climbing Antoine Le Menestrel will become the center of an attractive performance in the heart of Sofia on March 30 at 5 pm. We will see him in action in the perimeter of Slaveykov Square, where he will climb in parkour style the facades of landmark buildings of the capital. The LÁmant spectacle will give us a new perspective on climbing - it will pleasantly surprise us that it can be not just a sport, but a fine art - something Menestrel ingeniously calls “vertical choreography”. The Frenchman acknowledges no genre definitions, and the boundaries of dance, poetry and technique in climbing blur into a spectacular spectacle in its dynamism - a vertical magic ballet, a feast for the senses and a provocation to our imagination.

Menestrel's route will pass through the facades of the former Culture Cinema, the French Cultural Institute and the City Library. During the performance, parking and vehicular traffic will be prohibited on the driveway in front of the entrance to the Ministry of Culture and the Library.

After the end of the demonstration, Menestrel will take part in the second day of the ‘Days of Challenges’ festival (29-31 March, Lumiere Cinema) - an annual forum for outdoor sports, mountaineering, adventure and active lifestyle. The Frenchman is a special guest of the event at the invitation of the forum's organizers from Mountains and People - an association of mountain guides, “The Wall” shops and the French Cultural Institute. Menestrel will present its premiere film for Bulgaria at the event L’ESCALADE LIBEREE, dedicated to his favorite rock Buoux in the South of France, where some of the most difficult climbing tours of the 90s were created and passed. It is a candid confession of his climbing journey, reimagined by him as “liberated” from the constraints of climbing norms preached by himself when he was younger. "Learn to love the way, not the goal. Take care of your body and share the climb," he advises in the tape. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)

Menestrel, born in 1962 in Paris, was among those who made possible the “boom” of climbing in Europe in the early 1980s. Over the years, he has been an international climbing judge and route discoverer, but his quest extends far beyond - in his exploration of vertical dimensions, he has become an inspiring artist and philosopher, a true phenomenon of our time.
