The second epic expedition of Stefan and Maxim Ivanov. In early September this year, they became the first in the world to cross the Arctic Ocean entirely by rowing boat. This time the expedition was in support of scientific research. During the voyage, the crew collected plankton samples from 50 meters deep. Stefan and Maxim spent days cooped up in the cabin, waiting for four storms to pass. Neither seasickness nor injuries could deter them from their goal.

The father and son tandem became famous in 2020 with the first trans-oceanic rowing expedition that brought our country two Guinness World Records. Back then, the two covered a total of 4,444 nautical miles in 105 days in the ocean before successfully docking in Barbados.

NEVEREST is the name of the boat, made up by Max as a play on words. It is a combination of the words never, rest and Everest, and the meaning is Never rest until you reach your Everest! or - Never give up before you reach your peak!

"We do it with great effort whenever possible - even when we feel like sleeping or are cold. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to support Assoc. We are delighted to have the opportunity to support Prof. Lyubomir Kenderov from the Faculty of Biology at the University of Sofia in his research on climate change."

Assoc. Kenderov started this research in Antarctica, around the Bulgarian base on Livingstone Island and now we are continuing it in the Arctic.

"So we feel that our expedition is not just an adventure, but at the same time contributes something to science and possibly to environmental protection. My father, Max's grandfather, prof. Stefan Ivanov says: "Max's father, Ognian Dimitrov, was a lecturer at the same Faculty of Biology for more than 50 years, and my sister Emilia graduated in Molecular Biology there.

After the Days in 2022 meeting, this December the Neverest team will be representing Dad - Stefan Ivanov. We look forward to seeing him on December 3, with tales of their frosty ocean adventures in the northernmost part of the world.
