In 2001, the Kingdom of Bhutan established the Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuary, a 253-square-mile protected habitat for the Migoi, known in the west as the Yeti. The sanctuary is also home to pandas, snow leopards and tigers, but Bhutanese claim the refuge was created specifically for the migo. This exclusive region has long been off-limits to outsiders, but in April 2019, professional mountain bikers Darren Bereklot, Casey Brown and Cam McCall were the first cyclists to ride in this secluded corner of the Himalayas. Their eight-day journey in search of Yeti takes them through some of the world's most stunning high-altitude trails, while bringing awareness to a country that bases its GDP on “happiness” rather than financial metrics.
While most of the world no longer believes in the existence of the Yeti, many of Bhutan's mountain dwellers claim that this mysterious ape-like creature still roams the remotest regions of the Himalayas. Eager to find out for themselves, the ambitious trio embark on the world's first expedition to a place never traversed by bicycle, in search of the mythological beast.
In pursuit of the Yeti, these intrepid boys embark on an adventure high in the Himalayas, scouring this otherworldly landscape for signs of the elusive creature. Their path is fraught with danger, from steep river gorges to the harsh conditions of extreme altitude and physical deprivation. While tackling these obstacles, the crew begins to expect the unexpected as each day leads from one discovery to another. Will the Yeti be one of those discoveries?
