Gabon Uncharted Sending Ivindo Falls

The Unknown Waters of Gabon – A Film by David Arnaud

Deep in the jungles of Central Africa flows a river that holds some of the last great mysteries of whitewater. In 2024, four of the world’s best kayakers—Adrian Matern, Dane Jackson, Calob Grady, and Bren Orton—embark on a 12-day expedition down the Ivindo River in Gabon to explore uncharted rapids and waterfalls reaching heights of up to 26 meters.

About 145 kilometers of wild river, dense tropical forest, and complete isolation from civilization turn the journey into a test not only of the team's skills, but also of their endurance, trust, and friendship. Using drones, the kayakers scout hidden river channels and search for potential descent lines before facing the raging elements up close.

Director David Arnaud takes us beyond the spectacular footage of extreme kayaking—into a world where there is no internet, no easy way back, and nature dictates the rules. "Gabon Uncharted: Sending Ivindo Falls" is a story about exploring the unknown, taking risks, and the bond that brings people together when they are far from everything familiar. Arnaud is also the creator of Big Water Theory featuring Nouria Newman, a film we saw in 2025.

We are watching Gabon Uncharted on the big screen on December 2nd at the House of Cinema.
