The short film “The Ghost Mountain” is a project by Viktor Troyanov, which reveals the surreal picture of the abandoned lifts on Vitosha, but also the enthusiasm of a handful of skiers who return to the slopes every winter, bringing the mountain to life. Archival ski footage from the late 1970s is also mixed in, and the project itself was born last season after a few chance shots.

"The idea to film the abandoned lifts on Vitosha came to me quite a long time ago. Initially the idea was to make a very short video with a list of “ghostly” pictures with music in the background. During the filming I came across black and white footage of skiers skiing on Vitosha, in the late seventies, and decided to develop the idea by inserting these priceless moments into the video and making a juxtaposition of Now and Then. After a few more filming sessions I now had enough material to put together a short film 14 minutes long. The film also features a freeride segment of riding in the Big Slice area. Filming was done between February and April, 2015. The project involved mainly friends, but also skiers I met by chance."

At the Days 2015 Victor Troyanov will present the film and tell more about the idea of its origin.
